► (1892-1974) Compositor francés. Formó parte del Grupo de los seis. A través de la superposición melódica y armónica, crea un estilo politonal. Obras: La creación del mundo (1922) (ballet) y Cristóbal Colón (1928) (ópera), entre otras.

Compositor francés. Estudió en el conservatorio de París y después en la Schola Cantorum con Vincent d'Indy. Se hizo conocido como miembro de Les Six, una agrupación de jóvenes compositores franceses. Su música se caracteriza por la politonalidad (el uso simultáneo de diferentes tonalidades), como en Saudades do Brazil (1921) y sus composiciones, aunque disonantes, conservan una cualidad lírica. Es perceptible la influencia del jazz en su obra más conocida, el ballet La creación del mundo (1923). En la década de 1920 escribió numerosos ballets, óperas y música para cine, y culminó con la "grand opéra Cristóbal Colón (1928). Milhaud estuvo vinculado largo tiempo con el Festival de música de Aspen, que ayudó a fundar en 1949.
